We always love returning to capture wedding photography at Shireburn Arms. And we always love meeting and photographing lovely couples like Carolyn and Callum.
Shireburn Arms Hotel is a 17th century hostelry located in the picturesque Lancashire village of Hurst Green in the Ribble Valley. It’s impressive original architecture and charming period features, subtly combined modern conveniences and a cosy ambience, make it a gorgeous wedding venue. Carolyn and Callum chose the perfect location for their late summer wedding in Lancashire.
On the day we woke to glorious sunshine and headed over to Shireburn Arms where both the bride and the grooms party were getting ready. We caught up with Carolyn and her bridal party in one of Shireburn Arms beautiful suites. She was in the capable hands of her make-up artist from Ora Make-Up and her hairstylist from the team at Lady Muck Bride. Also in attendance were Carolyn’s maid of honour Kate, bridesmaid Jessica, Carolyn’s mum Sandra and Carolyn’s Auntie Mandy. The atmosphere was so chilled and happy as the women happily chatted, laughed and enjoyed some bubbly.
As there’s two of us, we can be in two places at once, so we headed over to another of Shire Arms’ suites to catch up with Callum and his grooms party and get a few images. They were having quite the pre party with a game of pool and a cheeky drink from the bar. And we got great images of them. The groom’s party was more of an army in size. It consisted of Callum, his best men Karl and Andy, groomsmen Mark, Dan and Andy. Callum’s brother-in-law Olly and Carolyn’s sister Emma. And lastly, Callum’s parents Graham and Elaine.

Callum looked very smart in tailor made three-piece grey suit from Michael Frackowiak. And his grooms party also wore three-piece grey suits all with dark green ties.
By now, Carolyn was ready and looked amazing. She wore a beautiful fitted dress with a sweetheart neckline. It had pretty lace flower details on it and perfectly skimmed Carolyn’s slender frame, kicking out at the bottom in a subtle mermaid cut with a train that fanned around the bottom. It gave Carolyn the most beautiful silhouette in all of our images. Carolyn bought the dress at Liverpool Bridal Boutique.
She teamed it with a gorgeous pearl headband and a simple veil that just melted into the back of her dress. Carolyn held an elegant bouquet of white flowers with green foliage created by talented team from The Flower Girls who did all the floral arrangements at the wedding.
Carolyn’s bridesmaids looked elegant in sage green dresses. Before heading down to the ceremony, we captured a gorgeous first look for Carolyn’s dad Colin and brother Peter.
The wedding ceremony was held in Shireburn’s beautiful Ribble Room. A contemporary room with tasteful muted tones and pretty strings of fairy lights across the ceiling. Carolyn and Callum beamed and laughed all the way through it. Us Lancashire wedding photographers do love smiley couples.
Their laid back and happy vibe really set the tone for the day and as they walked back down the aisle a married couple there was spontaneous applause from their guests. This was followed by a fun confetti moment outside that we captured perfectly. Here, take a look!
Storytelling wedding photography in Lancashire
As the weather was gorgeous, everybody enjoyed the drinks and canapes reception in Shireburn Arms’ beautiful gardens. And we took the chance to get some group images of the wedding party. Much fun was had, especially with Callum and his grooms party where, at one point, the acrobatics reached alarming levels!
With guests happily catered for, we quickly whisked Carolyn and Callum away for a few minutes for a mini photoshoot around the beautiful grounds of Shireburn Arms. We got some really romantic images. Here, take a look!
We returned to find guests seated ready for the wedding breakfast, and they rapturously welcomed Carolyn and Callum into the room. Speeches were before food which is always a good idea, and were very well received with toasts, laughter and a few tears of joy.
The wedding breakfast was prepared by Shireburn Arms’ talented in-house chefs and in between courses guests were entertained by professional musician and singer Paul Dunbar.
After the meal, as the weather was still warm, guests headed back out to the gardens to sit, drink, chat and play and we got some fantastic candid images, including of the children who were happy to stretch their legs and explore the gardens.
Creative and Natural Shireburn Arms wedding photography
Carolyn and Callum hired a photobooth from North West Vintage VW which of course proved to be very popular especially the props! (Who doesn’t love a photobooth)
Evening celebrations started with the cutting of an elegant white three-tiered wedding cake made by the award winning Cake O’Clock. This was followed by a romantic first dance which saw Callum lift Carolyn off the floor which just delighted everybody. This was followed by a very sweet father daughter dance for Carolyn and her dad.
They were quick to be joined on the dancefloor as Carolyn and Callum’s guests were definitely up for a party. And live band The Tonics made sure they got one. There was some enthusiastic dancing especially from the groom’s party, and we took our lives into our own hands and bravely entered the dancefloor to take some amazing dancefloor images.
