We love returning to be Soughton Hall wedding photographers and we love working with lovely couples like Shelby and Will. These guys chose the perfect venue for their summer wedding in North Wales.
Situated on the borders of Cheshire and North Wales. Grade II listed Soughton Hall is a stunning Georgian Country House approached down a sweeping driveway and surrounded by landscaped gardens. Perfect for weddings, it’s stunning palatial rooms and beautiful gardens and grounds, make it a real favourite with us Cheshire wedding photographers.
On the day, we woke to full sunshine (a great start!) and headed straight to Soughton Hall to catch up with Shelby and her bridal party, who were getting ready in Soughton Hall’s spacious bridal suite. And boy did it need to be spacious. In attendance were Shelby, her mum Karen, Will’s mum Lisa, Shelby’s Nanna Rene, maid of honour Abby and bridesmaids Beth, Emily, Saqi, Charlie and flower girl Indie. And on top of that were the wedding suppliers of hair stylist Caris Jade and make-up artist Alisha Heap, and us, the most unobtrusive wedding photographers in Cheshire.
Shelby looked stunning a strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline that skimmed her slender figure and kicked out into a mermaid cut skirt at the bottom. Giving Shelby the most amazing silhouette. She bought the dress at bridal boutique Along Came Eve. Shelby’s long blonde hair had been styled to frame her face and cascade down her back and her make-up looked totally flawless. She looked so glamorous. Her dress was complemented by a gorgeous bouquet by Wild Floral Designs who did all the flowers on the day, and a full length veil.
Before heading for the ceremony, we captured a great reveal moment for the bridesmaids and for Shelby’s brother and nephew. It was so sweet.
Experienced Soughton Hall wedding photographers
Bridesmaids looked elegant in green/grey pastel dresses with simple white posies with green foliage. Flower girl Indie looked very sweet in white. We want to mention a fantastic member of the groom’s party, the youngest groomsman Max, who not only looked very smart but did a great job of helping Indie with her flower girl duties.
Speaking of the groom’s party, we caught up with Will who having got ready was outside greeting guests and having a cheeky beer. Not to be outdone by Shelby, Will’s grooms party was large too. There was Will, best man Sam, and groomsmen Andy, Clinton, Chris, Aaron and of course young Max. Will and his grooms party all looked very smart in traditional tails suits in a dark blue with grey waistcoats.
It’s always lovely to meet and work with other professionals in the wedding industry. And this was certainly the case working with Shannon and Jack from Forever Curious who were there to capture Shelby and Will’s wedding film.
The wedding ceremony was held outside in the garden terrace that had been dressed beautifully with elegantly draped chairs and floral arrangements. Shelby was walked down the aisle by her brother.
After a lovely ceremony that included a reading, Shelby and Will walked back down the aisle a married couple to applause from their guests. Everybody then enjoyed a drinks and canapes reception on the terrace and we took out chance otto get some great images of the entire wedding party, some fun confetti shots and some lovely group images of the wedding party. Some formal and of course some silly.
Storytelling wedding photography at Soughton Hall
We also took our chance to get some great candid images of Shelby and Will’s guests just enjoying the sunshine, playing lawn games and mingling.
The wedding reception was held in Soughton Hall’s luxury marquee that had been dressed beautifully for the occasion with fresh white table cloths, elegantly draped chairs and beautiful floral displays. And the ceiling with hanging festoon lights. We got a few images of the it all dressed and ready to go. And of the elegant white three-tiered wedding cake that had been made by the talented people at Cheshire wedding cakes.
Shelby and Will were welcomed to their reception rapturously by their guests before speeches took place. (Before the meal which is always a good idea!) The speech givers were Will and his best man Sam who delivered some very fun and well received speeches. There was also an impromptu performance by two of the bridesmaids.
After the meal, with guests spilling back outside to enjoy the sunshine and explore Soughton Hall, we took our chance to quickly whisk Shelby and Will away for a few minutes for a mini photoshoot around the beautiful gardens and grounds of Soughton Hall.
Us North Wales wedding photographers call this time of day ‘the golden hour’. It’s not long before sunset when the sun is at its lowest. It dapples through the trees and creates a soft hazy light that is perfect for romantic portrait images.
Creative and natural Soughton Hall wedding photography
The light in the images of Shelby and Will in the formal gardens is just exquisite and the image looks like a shoot for an hi-end bridal magazine. Here, take a look!
We then got the rest of the wedding party outside to take some fun smoke canon images too. They were really good sports and the images we got were great.
Evening celebrations started with the cutting of that gorgeous cake, followed by a first dance to ‘Lucky Man’ by The Verve. Live entertainment was in the form of Blue Lion Band who’s live set really got the party started, with guests happily singing along and cutting shapes on the dancefloor all night!.
We bravely took to the dancefloor ourselves to get some great images. Everybody was having so much fun and the images of Max on best man Sam’s shoulders were amongst our favourites. There was also a fun photobooth with lots of silly props that proved to be very popular (who doesn’t love a photobooth) and some tasty food. Shelby and Will really had thought of everything.
We had the best time capturing Shelby and Will’s wedding at Soughton Hall. A fun, family friendly wedding at a simply stunning venue. Congratulations guys for getting married and thank you for having us there. We loved it!
