Casterton Grange Wedding Photographers – Samantha & Mark

As Cumbria wedding photographers, we get to work at the very best wedding venues in the county.  And this is never more so the case, than when we return to capture wedding photography at Casterton Grange.  Samantha and Mark chose the perfect location for their spring wedding.

Casterton Grange is a Victorian country house estate with beautiful period interiors, ornate terraces, manicured gardens and breathtaking views of the surrounding Cumbria countryside.  Its unique beauty makes it a real favourite amongst North West wedding photographers.

On the day, we headed straight to Casterton Grange to catch up with Samantha and her bridal party.  We say party, they felt more like an army, there was Samantha, her mum Annette, Mark’s mum Maria, maid of honour Natasha, bridesmaids Katie and Hannah and baby flower girl Charlotte.  Thankfully the bridal suite at Casterton Grange is large and airy so there was plenty of room for the bridal party, the hairstylist Colette from Hair Creations By Colette, make-up artist Nikki from Confetti Bridal Makeup and Hair, and us, the most unobtrusive wedding photographers in Cumbria!

The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement with co-ordinated PJ’s and a bit of fizz to get the celebrations started.

There being two of us means we can literally be in two places at once.  So, we also caught up with Mark and his groom’s party who were getting ready in one of Casterton Grange’s luxurious cottages.  The boys looked very smart in three-piece petrol blue suits.  Things were looking quite organised and there were even some sandwiches!   Once ready the boys headed outside to enjoy a cheeky beer on the terrace and soak up the sunshine and gorgeous views.  Before heading to the church ceremony in two vintage cars hired from Malvern wedding cars.

By now Samantha was ready and looking stunning in a gorgeous Stella York vintage lace detail dress with an A-line shape skirt that her an amazing fairytale silhouette.  Samantha bought the dress at Liverpool Bridal Boutique and teamed it with a full-length veil at the back that gently melted into the back of her layers of skirt and a gorgeous bouquet created by Tara from Lune Valley Florist, who did all of the flowers on the day.  Before heading off, we captured a really sweet father seeing the bride moment for Samantha’s dad Nick.  Samantha’s bridesmaids looked elegant blush colour dresses.

The wedding ceremony was held at St Bartholomew’s Church in Banneriggs Brow.  This pretty Grade II listed church has a rich history and enjoys spectacular views across the Cumbrian countryside.  We got there early to get some great images of Mark and his grooms party waiting in the church, and of guests excitedly arriving.

Storytelling wedding photography at Casterton Grange

Samantha arrived in style in a vintage car with her dad, with her bridal party travelling in the other car.  Samantha was then walked down the aisle by her dad Nick.  There followed a really special wedding ceremony with hymns, a reading and live music from violinist Craig Owen.  At the end of which, Samantha and Mark walked back down the aisle a married couple to applause from all of their guests.

Outside there was a fun confetti moment that we captured perfectly, before everybody headed to Casterton Grange for the wedding reception.  Where everybody enjoyed an elegant drinks and canapes reception on the terrace, to live musical accompaniment on the piano and violin. We took our chance to take some candid images of guests happily mingling and enjoying refreshments and some group images of the wedding party in the beautifully manicured gardens.

With guests happily catered for and enjoying exclusive use of Casterton Grange.  We quickly whisked Samantha and Mark away for a few minutes for a mini photoshoot around the gardens.  We got some really lovely images.  Here, take a look!

The wedding breakfast was held in a beautiful luxury tipi in the garden and looked magnificent all dressed and ready for the celebrations.  Tables had crisp white linen, floral arrangements and candles.  It was so pretty and the clever work of the venue dresser Emma from Emma Jane Events.  Guests were seated first so that Samantha and Mark could receive a rapturous welcome.

The speeches were before the food which is always a good idea and were delivered by best men Scott and Jay, Samantha’s father Nick and Mark.  There followed a delicious meal prepared and served by local caterers Karen Rhodes Events and whilst eating guests were entertained by a talented singer.

After the meal, guests continued to enjoy the beautiful gardens and serene lake and we took our chance to get some fun images of the wedding party.

Some of the groom’s party commandeered a rowboat and took to the lake only to find it had a leak which produced some hilarious images that were amongst our favourites of the day.  Here, take a look!

Evening celebrations started with a romantic first dance for Samantha and Mark.  Though they weren’t alone for long as their guests were itching to join them.  Now, we capture weddings all the time and can confirm that rarely have we experienced a more packed dancefloor than we saw at Samantha and Mark’s wedding.  And with live band Mountford singing pop songs in a folk style, the dancefloor remained full all night.  And we got some really fun images.

We loved capturing Samantha and Mark’s wonderful spring wedding in Cumbria.    Congratulations to you both and thank you for allowing us to tell the story of your amazing day.   We loved it!
