Holmes Mill Wedding Photography – Holly & Matt’s Day
As busy Lancashire wedding photographers, we get to work at the very best wedding venues in the county and this is certainly the case when we return to capture Holmes Mill wedding photography. Holly and Matt chose the perfect location to celebrate their winter wedding.
Holmes Mill is a formerly cotton mill in the town of Clitheroe that has been restored back to life and stands today as a fantastic venue that retains all the charm and character of is past. We always love being Holmes Mill wedding photographers, because its blend of luxurious and modern with heritage and history make it a truly unique and photogenic venue.
On the day, we headed straight to Christ Church in Walmersly for the ceremony and caught up with Matt and his groom’s party. The boys were in good spirits and we got some great images of them helping each other fix their button holes. They all looked very smart in petrol blue three-piece-suits. We also got some great images of guests arriving.
The bridal party then arrived, firstly the bridesmaid who all looked elegant in green dresses with white shawls and pretty posies of white flower with green foliage which were the creation of florists All blooming Things who did all of the flowers on the day. There was also a very sweet flower girl.

Holly then arrived with her dad Derek in a gorgeous white Rolls Royce car. Holly looked amazing in a beautiful dress with a shimmering bodice and gorgeous ballgown shape skirt that gave her a real fairytale bride look and an amazing silhouette in all of our images. Her make-up was immaculate and her long hair had been beautifully styled both courtesy of the team at Nala & Knot bridal hair and make-up. The procession began finishing with Holly being walked down the aisle by her dad.
After a lovely ceremony, in which Matt’s young son was the best man and ring bearer, everybody met outside and we got some great group images of the entire wedding party, of the bride and grooms party’s and of Holly and Matt.
Everybody then headed to Holmes Mill for the wedding reception and started by enjoy an elegant drinks and canapes reception in their stunning Bar & Grill. With guests happily catered for, we took our chance to get more group images of the wedding party outside in the Mill Yard. We were lucky that the weather in January was mild and dry enough to make this possible. We also took some candid images of guests happily chatting and mingling.
There was a fun confetti moment after which we took our chance to get a few romantic portrait images of Holly and Matt whilst guests were being seated for the wedding breakfast.
Storytelling wedding photography at Holmes Mill
The reception was held in The Cotton Room. This amazing space has been kept loyal to its industrial roots with natural textured walls, exposed beams and all period character you would expect from a building that has lasted decades. It had bee dressed exquisitely with crips white linen, and candles in candelabras with strings of festoon lights across the ceiling.
With guests seated first, Holly and Matt were welcomed rapturously by their guests.
Speeches were before food which is always a good idea and were delivered by Holly’s dad Derek, by groomsman Jazz, by Holly and lastly by Matthew. The speeches were funny, heartfelt and emotional so one way or another there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
Homles Mill contains its very own bowling alley, so after the meal, many guests enjoyed a game of bowling and explored the venue enjoying exclusive use.
The evening party was held in The Cotton Room that had been transformed into the perfect party space by the team from Exceed Events. Celebrations started with the cutting of an elegant white three-tiered wedding cake, followed by a romantic first dance for Holly and Matt. They were quickly joined by their guests and it wasn’t long before the dancefloor was full. And we took some really fun dancefloor images. It’s always a joy to see wedding dancefloors full with multi-generations all dancing together. And with the sun set and the dancefloor full it was time for us to take our leave.
