Mottram Hall Wedding Photographer – Joanna & Steven’s Wedding
The sun shone all day for Joanna and Steven’s summer wedding. One of the best things about being Cheshire wedding photographers is getting to shoot wedding photography at Mottram Hall. This charming 18th century Georgian country house sits in the heart of Cheshire. And is one of the most elegant and romantic wedding venues in Cheshire.
On the day we started early by catching up with Steven and his sister (best woman) and groomsman Stephen who were getting ready at home. And we captured a lovely moment when Steven opened a present from Joanna of a framed timeline charting where they met, got engaged and then got married.
We then headed for Mottram Hall and caught up with Joanna who was getting ready in Mottram Hall’s lovely bridal suite. We found her in safe hands with hairdresser and make up artist Danielle Horan along with Joanna’s mum Pat, and bridesmaids Katy, Elizabeth, Jen and Steph (who all looked great in elegant navy bridesmaid dresses)
Joanna looked amazing in a beautiful dress that had a v neck shape with a low scooped back with a traditional a-line skirt giving her a fairy-tale silhouette. The skirt had a train and she wore a pretty veil. The lace and many layered skirts giving her a floaty look that was so romantic and worked beautifully with the grandeur of Mottram Hall.
The flowers on the day looked amazing and were created by the team at Hazel Grove Flowers.
Beautiful and Natural Mottram Hall Wedding Photography
The ceremony was held in Motrram Hall’s tasteful St Andrew’s Suite. An elegant room with period features that is flooded with natural light (us Cheshire wedding photographers are always thrilled with any additional natural light that we can play with to capture beautiful images). The wedding was dressed by Event Dressing in Stockport who created a magical setting for Joanna and Steven’s wedding day.
After the ceremony Joanna and Steven joined their guests outside on the lawn for a fun confetti moment before everybody enjoyed a drinks reception in the gardens. We also took the chance to get some great group images of the wedding party as well as some candid images of Joanna, Steven and their guests just enjoying the day.
There were some lawn games for the youngest, and not so young guests to enjoy. As guests happily mingled, drank and played, we quickly whisked Joanna and Steven away for a mini photo session around the beautiful gardens and grounds of Mottram Hall. One of the many reasons why we love shooting wedding photography at Mottram Hall. Their 270 acres of breath-taking countryside, picturesque rose gardens and private lake always give us so many stunning backdrops for our photographs.
The wedding reception was held in the St Andrew’s Suite and Joanna and Steven was rapturously welcomed into their wedding reception with applause and the waving of napkins. The tables were dressed beautifully with flowers, petals, and candles.
Everybody enjoyed a delicious wedding breakfast and there were some lovely and funny speeches by Joanna’s dad Peter, by Steven and by the best woman Alison.

After the wedding meal guests then headed back outside to continue enjoying the sunshine.
Evening celebrations started with the cutting of a gorgeous three-tier wedding cake that Joanna had cleverly made herself! Then there was a romantic first dance where Joanna and Steven impressed everybody with their moves and we captured the moment with some fantastic images. There was musical accompaniment from the band Soul Federation who made sure that Joanna and Steven were quickly joined on the dancefloor where many remained all night.
As the sunset over Mottram Hall, we quickly took Joanna and Steven outside to get a romantic sunset image of them set against a dramatic sky. It was one of our favourite images of the day. Here, take a look!
