We’d been really looking forward to shooting wedding photography at Oldfield Farm for Sophie and Joel’s wedding day. We last saw these two when we joined them for an engagement shoot at Heaton Park in the Spring. And the time since seems to have passed in a flash!
On the day we got there early so we could capture some images of Sophie and Joel as they got ready. Sophie was getting ready at her family home in Heswall and had an army of bridesmaids with her (there were 9 of them), We’re going to show off now and name them all! Ann-Marie, Beth and Meeyoung were maids of honour. Then Sarah, Hannah, Rachel, Liz, Scarlett, Libbo and Christina were bridesmaids and young Sienna was the flower girl. Sophie’s mum Kate was on hand with the fizz and looking seriously outnumbered by the girls was Sophie’s dad Stu.
Add to that Fi Farelly who was there to do Sophie’s hair and make up and you get to imagine just how busy Kate and Stu’s house was. The house had a gorgeous light filled conservatory that was perfect for bridal prep images as we were able to use the abundance of light to create natural images. (Us Liverpool wedding photographers are total geeks when it comes to banging on about light!) Thankfully, the weather was delightful all day allowing the bridal party to also to spill into Kate and Stu’s lovely garden.
Creative Wirral wedding photography
Sophie looked stunning in her dress that she bought at Cherish the Bride. It had a beautiful full skirt that combined with her long-tousled hair, veil and tiara gave Sophie a dreamy princess bride look. And Sophie beamed all day which was a delight (us Liverpool wedding photographers do love a smiley bride) Bridesmaids wore gorgeous grey dresses.
There’s two of us which means we can be in two places at once. This allowed us to also capture Joel as he made his final preparations as well. Joel and his grooms party looked very smart in petrol blue three-piece suits.
The ceremony was held at St Peter’s church is Heswall and Sophie and her dad Stu travelled there in style in a vintage white Rolls Royce. St Peter’s is a handsome Grade II listed building and is recorded in the National Heritage List for England. Inside it is light and spacious (which is rare for a church) and it had been decorated beautifully with flowers by Booker Flowers.
After the ceremony there was a chance to get some romantic portrait images of Sophie and Joel outside the church before a fun confetti moment. Everybody then headed to Oldfield Farm for the wedding reception. Sophie and Joel travelling in that gorgeous white vintage Rolls Royce.
Storytelling wedding photography at Oldfield Farm
Yay! Now we get to talk about why we love shooting wedding photography at Oldfield Farm. Sitting in idyllic countryside village of Thurstaston on the Wirral Peninsula, Oldfield Farm has stunning countryside views of the River Dee and North Wales. Oldfield Farm offers bountiful space and beauty to create bespoke weddings with a laidback outdoorsy boho vibe. The Team at Oldfield Farm allow their couples to create weddings from scratch choosing their own suppliers with a ‘your wedding done your way’ philosophy. So, it was the perfect venue for Sophie and Joel’s wedding.
On arrival everybody enjoyed a drinks reception outside soaking up the sunshine, and we took lots of images of the wedding party making the most of those spectacular views as a backdrop.
The wedding reception was held in a marquee that had been hired from ‘All About Me’ Marquees and had been dressed beautifully. There was a sumptuous wedding meal provided by the clever team at Nova the Outsiders who specialise in outdoor catering. After which there were some very well received speeches.
Fun and natural Oldfield Farm wedding photography
As the day turned to evening fairy lights lit up the inside of the marquee and a fire pit was lit outside creating a magical and cosy vibe for the evening celebrations. Those celebrations started with the cutting of an elegant three-tiered wedding cake made by the award winning cakemakers at Confetti and Crumbs and a romantic first dance for Sophie and Joel.
The DJ from Stealth DJ’s made sure it wasn’t long before the dancefloor was full. Sophie and Joel’s guests were definitely up for party, and with a disco, a woodfired pizza van, a bar, and a firepit outside. They had everything they needed for one!
A gorgeous, fun filled, family-friendly laidback wedding full of laughter. We had the best time telling the story of Sophie and Joel’s day with beautiful photographs. Congratulations to Sophie and Joel for getting married and thank you for having us there. We loved it!
