A Yorkshire Woodland Marquee Wedding

A Marquee Wedding in the Yorkshire Woodlands | The Woodman Inn Wedding Photographer

Friday was the wedding of Mike + Julie, a wonderful couple from Yorkshire who married at The Woodman Inn in Huddersfield.  The venue was fantastic, a lovely country pub in the most beautiful surrounding countryside with a purpose built bar in the style of a wood barn with an attached marquee.   The way the venue is laid out it’s a little surprise for your guests as Mike + Julie married in the old pub building and then moved across to the marquee is across the road.

The Ceremony

During the ceremony Julie couldn’t stop smiling, Mike was a little nervous but as soon as he saw Julie the nerves stopped and their huge smiles said it all.  After signing of the register it was back down the aisle to be congratulated by all their friends and family before heading off in their wedding car for a short drive to spend some alone time.  A great idea for those couples who want some time together on their wedding day.

Fun In The Woods

Once Mike + Julie returned to the venue it was out into the gardens, which is a small patch of woodland at the back of the marquee, suitable for small group photos.   Our aim during formal group shots is to make those as natural as possible, the shots we love are the ones taken when people think we’ve stopped shooting.

The Speeches

Julie’s dad couldn’t be with them on the day due to ill health so as a lovely gesture to include him, the couple had arranged for a bottle of fizz with a label of his face on, so every table could have a drink on him.  They also printed some of his most famous sayings on the menu cards.  What a lovely idea to include a family member that couldn’t be there on the day.  A lovely touch.

Flower Tossing

Julie and her girlies took to the dancefloor for an epic throw of the bouquet, she threw it that high it hit the light over the dancefloor, a lady on a mission.  The lucky catcher took great pleasure in dragging her partner to the dancefloor as it is tradition that whoever catches that bouquet is next to marry (we slipped a business card in it).

Happy Ever After

We wish Mike + Julie all the best and what an amazing couple, the day was so well planned and you guys looked amazing.  A huge thanks to all the suppliers that helped make their day so special.
