Photographing at Thornton Hall Hotel Wedding Venue

We always love returning to shoot Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa wedding photography and we always love working with great couples like Jess and John.

Situated in the pretty village of Thornton Hough on the Wirrall Peninsula in Merseyside, Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa is a gorgeous wedding venue and the perfect venue for Jess and John’s wedding.

On the day we got there early to catch up with Jess who was getting ready in one of Thornton Hall’s beautiful suites. Jess had her bridal party with her who consisted of her mum Mary, John’s mum Carol, then bridesmaids Charlie, Lauren and Shannon and groomswoman Vanessa. We got some great images of them as they got ready.

We also got the chance to catch up with the boys. John’s grooms party consisted of him, his dad Steve, Jess’s stepdad Bruce, best man Mike and groomsmen Jordan and Andy. They all looked very smart in three-piece suits and plum ties.

Now we must mention Jess’s dress which she bought from Tiffany Couture. As you can imagine we’ve seen a lot of wedding dresses in our time and Jess’s was right up there. It was stunning. We loved the delicate lace detail at the back and the full-length veil. The cut of the dress gave her an exquisite silhouette in all of our images. Complimented with hair by Adele Foster and makeup by Cathryn Kerwin Rawlinson Jess looked amazing.

Bridesmaids looked fantastic in gorgeous deep plum colour dresses that was so perfect for an autumn wedding at Thornton Hall Hotel.

The Cristal Suite at Thornton Hall

The ceremony was held in the beautiful Cristal Suite. An opulent and luxurious art deco room aptly named as its key feature are ten magnificent glittering crystal chandeliers that along with the art deco wall mirrors throw amazing light around the room (us Merseyside wedding photographers are obsessed with light!)

After the ceremony everybody enjoyed a drinks reception and as there was a break in the intermittent rain, we took a few group and portrait shots outside in the majestic grounds of Thornton Hall. Our favourite being the one of Jess and John with Jess’s lovely nan. Here, take a look!

We then quickly whisked Jess and John around the grounds of Thornton Hall for some romantic portrait shots before returning to join their guests on the garden terrace enjoying drinks and canapes.

The reception was held back in the Cristal Suite and the team at Thornton Hall had dressed the room beautifully. Jess and Tom were rapturously received as they entered the room which set the tone for the following speeches that were delivered by Jess’s step dad Bruce, John and bestman Mike.

As afternoon turned into evening the fun went up a gear. The evening reception featured a selfie mirror with brilliant props. It went down really well. We have to mention the cake. We loved the modern style of it with the icing and the fun figurines on top! Modern and elegant yet fun.

There was also a romantic sparkler parade that produced some of favourite images of the day.

When it comes to partying we can confirm that in all our years of shooting Merseyside wedding photography we have never seen a dancefloor fill so quickly. Jess and John’s guests were really up for a party and there was some serious shape cutting going down. It was so fun to capture it.

A gorgeous family-friendly wedding full of fun, love and laughter. Congratulations to Jess and John for getting married and creating such an amazing day and thank you for having us there to tell the story of it.
