Wedding Photography at Manchester University Council Chambers – Mizla and Richie’s Day

As Manchester based wedding photographers, we get to work at the most iconic locations the city has to offer, and this is certainly the case when we return to capture wedding photography at Manchester University Council Chambers.  Mizla and Richie chose the perfect location for their late summer wedding in Manchester.  Especially as these two met whilst at university back in 2012.

On the day, we headed to a charming airbnb property on John Dalton Street to catch up with Mizla and her bridal party.  The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement and the girls were in great spirits.  Mizla’s bridal party consisted of her, and her four bridesmaids Louise, Kam, Lasata and Shamini.

Mizla looked stunning in a strapless Madi Lane Bridal dress that had beautiful floaty layers of skirt.  Mizla bought the dress at the Pretty White Dress bridal boutique and teamed it with a gorgeous full back veil from Rainbow Club UK.  Mizla’s hair and make-up were immaculate thanks to make-up artist and hairstylist Abigail Turner.

As there’s two of us, we can literally be in two places at one time.  This meant we could also catch up with Richie and his grooms party who were all ready and enjoying a toast drink before the ceremony.  The grooms party consisted of Richie, best man Jake, ushers Sam, Reuben, Alex, Dan, Dom and Rhys and Richie’s dad Julian.  Richie looked very smart in a blue pinstripe suit by hockerty.  And the groom’s party’s fun accessories were from Mrs Bow Tie.

The wedding ceremony was held in the Whitworth Council Chamber.  This neo-gothic Grade II listed building has exquisite period features like wood panelling, high ceilings and enormous stain glass windows, that all make an amazing backdrop in wedding photos.

Before the ceremony, we took some gorgeous images of Mizla, sitting on a window ledge in front of one of those windows.  The images we got were simply stunning.  Here, take a look!

After a lovely ceremony of approximately 50 guests, Mizla and Richie walked back down the aisle a married couple to applause from everybody.

Now it’s always lovely to meet and work with other professionals in the wedding industry and this was certainly the case working with Craig from Pristine Videography who was there to capture the wedding film.

After the ceremony, there was a fun confetti moment before everybody enjoyed an elegant drinks and canapes reception outside.  And we the chance to take some great group images of the wedding party.

With guests happily catered for, we quickly whisked Mizla and Richie away for a few minutes for a mini photoshoot and got some romantic images of them around the beautiful around the university’s famous quadrangle.  Here, take a look!

We also went into the museum and got some images of Mizla and Richie with the reptiles.

The wedding breakfast was held back in the chambers, which had been dressed beautifully thanks to the Venue Styling Company.  Food was courtesy of Manchester University’s in house caterers Officialuom who served guests a delicious meal.

In the evening, Mizla and Richie were joined by a further 50 guests, and celebrations were held in the wonderfully atmospheric Christie’s Bistro.  Things started with the cutting of a stunning three-tiered wedding cake made by vegan bakery Leafy Creams.  This was followed by a romantic first dance for Mizla and Richie.

Then the tempo ramped up with a live Bhangra performance/workshop which was amazing.  Mizla, Richie and their guests really embraced the experience and had so much fun and we got some amazing images.   And the fun and energy levels were maintained for the rest of the evening with multi-award winning DJ Sanj Desifusiondjs ensuring the dancefloor remained full all night. And we took some really fun dancefloor images.
