Perks of the Job: Getting to shoot Eshott Hall wedding photography
Safagh and Jamie chose award winning Eshott Hall for their autumn wedding in Northumberland. This grand Georgian manor house in the heart of the Northumberland countryside is enveloped by acres of ancient woodland, rolling lawns and a walled kitchen garden. A truly beautiful and romantic location for a wedding.
Whenever we return to capture Eshott Hall wedding photography, we always get a thrill at the first glimpse we get of the house from the stately tree lined driveway. This handsome Georgian mansion house has an impressive frontage and carefully tended gardens and parkland making it a real favourite with Northumberland wedding photographers.
On the day we got there early so we could catch up with Safagh and her bridal party who were getting ready in Eshott Hall’s elegant Versaille Room. Safagh was in good spirits with her mum and her four bridesmaids and we captured the moment she gave them all a present. Safagh was also in the safe hands of her make up artist and hairstylist both from MEIA.

We also caught up with Jamie who was getting ready in another suite in Eshott Hall. He was with his grooms party which consisted of Jamie, his dad Peter, best man Jak, and ushers Brady, Daniel and David.
Safagh and Jamie had wanted to have a woodland wedding outside but as it was raining most of the morning so they had to make a late call to change location. Thankfully, Eshott Hall always have a ‘Plan B’ ready to go in these situations so Safagh and Jamie were married in Eshott Hall’s onsite chapel. Outside afterwards there was a fun confetti moment before guests enjoyed reception drinks and we took our chance to capture some great images of the wedding party.
Safagh is Iranian so the wedding day was a colourful fusion between British and Persian wedding traditions. After the traditional western ceremony there was a traditional Iranian ceremony. Persian weddings include a Tooreh Ghand which is a sugar cloth that is held over the bride and groom like a canopy throughout much of the wedding ceremony. There was also a honey tasting ritual to represent the sweetness in their lives, an Ayeeneh (a mirror) to bring light and brightness into Safaph and Jamie’s future and a Badoo was served which is a colourful blend of almonds, walnuts and hazelnuts and symbolises fertility.

Everybody sat down to the wedding reception and enjoyed speeches before the meal which is always a good idea. The speeches were delivered by Safagh’s father, her brothers and best man Jak. Then everybody enjoyed a sumptuous wedding breakfast after which they were entertained by some circus entertainers.
Evening celebrations began with a Kaleh Ghand ceremony that sees married women rub the Kaleh Ghand (sugar cones) together over the Tooreh Ghand, which is held over the couple’s heads. The falling sugar showers the bride and groom’s life and marriage with sweetness.
Then there was the cutting of a beautiful three-tiered wedding cake that was the creation of the clever people at the Cake Garden.
The evening celebrations then started with a romantic first dance for Safagh and Jamie and it wasn’t long before their family and friends joined them on the dancefloor. And live band Funk Conspiracy were there to make sure they stayed there.

A wonderful fusion wedding that managed to seamlessly blend a black-tie wedding with British and Persian traditions in a Northumberland Country House. Creating a truly unique and utterly memorable wedding day for Safagh and Jamie.
