Jen + Dave's Hoghton Tower Wedding
The Preparations
We were really looking forward to Jen + Dave’s wedding at Hoghton Tower in Preston, we’d already meet the couple at the Tower for their pre-wedding photoshoot so we were super excited to see the venue again. We arrived at Jen + Dave’s house where Jen, the girls, all the kids and parents were all getting ready along with the camera crew from Sole Productions so it was a bit of a squeeze but we really enjoyed having a laugh and capturing some natural moments.
The Arrival
The arrival of Jen at Hoghton Tower was magical, despite the awful storm and strong winds, Tam MacArthur the piper did a wonderful job of leading in the bridal car by Malvern Wedding Cars in style. Jen wanted to go back to her Scottish routes and when she stepped out of the car and that wonderful one of a kind, hand-made designer dress by Legend Bridal Designs started to sparkle that Jen had the entrance she’d always dreamed of, despite the weather. We have to say that Margaret at The Gilded Lily did an amazing job recreating Jen’s ideas on how she wanted her bouquet which was colourful, natural and wild looking which it was.
The Venue & Ceremony
The great hall is such a magnificent wedding ceremony space, steeped in so much history the room has a regal feel and you feel a bit like your on the set of Game of Thrones as it has a medieval touch with class and style. The ceremony was beautiful and the couple made their vows and exchanged rings before being lead out again by the piper, the pipes and the venue worked so well together, it felt like you were in the heart of Scotland not a peak in Preston. This venue really is a hidden gem for those wanting something traditional that’s close to Manchester.
Afternoon Tea
Before the wedding breakfast was served and it was time for photos, Jen + Dave had planned a magician and kids entertainer which was a great way of entertaining everyone whilst they went off for photos, on returning lovely afternoon tea was served followed by some wonderful speeches from Dad, Groom and the Bestmen.
A Real Celtic Knees Up
The evening reception didn’t disappoint with a quick game of Mr & Mrs and then the ceilidh band Twist of Fate got the evening off to a swinging start, with bodies flying all around the room and me getting taken out by getting too close, really you’d think I’d of learnt my lesson and not get trodden on but my poor swollen foot thought otherwise.
Sparkling Finish
After the party we headed off for one last photo which was to attempt to light sparklers in hurricane force winds, with luck on our side we did manage to light a few in time for the production team to get some great footage and we sneaked off a few shots.
We wish this wonderful family all the best in their new journey and we had a fantastic time.
